How it works
A full walkthrough of Layometry — from your workspace to the cut list. Every control is shown the way it looks in the app.
The basics: workspace and project
What Layometry is made of, and where your data lives.
Layometry has two things. A workspace is the top-level folder — “My jobs”, or your studio name. A project is one room inside it: “Bathroom on Main St”, “Kitchen backsplash”. A project holds every surface, its tile, and the calculation.
The dashboard sidebar: a workspace expands into its projects.
- Workspace
- The top level. It has a name and a URL. Only you can see the projects inside it.
- Project
- One room. Opens in the planner and saves itself as you work.
- Surface
- A wall or a floor inside a project. One project can hold several connected surfaces.
The planner also works signed out: the project is kept in your browser. An account is what lets you hold several projects and pick them up on another device.
Dashboard: create, rename, delete
Making projects and workspaces, and cleaning up.
Create a project
- Pick a workspace in the sidebar — its projects appear underneath it.
- Press “New project” — top right, in the list heading, or right under the project tree.
- Type a name and confirm. The project opens in the planner straight away.
Create another workspace
- In the sidebar, next to the “Workspaces” heading, press “+”.
- Type a name — the URL is filled in for you and can be edited.
- The URL takes 3–48 characters: lowercase letters, numbers, or hyphens.
The “…” menu on a workspace and on a project. Deleting always asks first.
Rename
- A workspace: hover it in the sidebar, press “…” → “Rename”.
- A project: press “…” at the end of its row → “Rename”.
- Either way only the name changes. The URL stays the same, so every planner link you saved keeps working.
Delete
- A project: press “…” at the end of its row, then “Delete”.
- A workspace: “…” in the sidebar, then “Delete”. Every project inside goes with it.
- The confirmation shows exactly what disappears. It cannot be undone.
Your last workspace cannot be deleted — an account always needs one. Create the new one first, then remove the old.
The planner screen
The toolbar, interactive 3D viewport, and compact inspector on the right.
Click a surface or element in the viewport and the right-hand inspector opens the relevant controls.
- Save indicator
- A green dot means your changes are stored — in the cloud for an account project, in the browser for a guest one.
- Undo / redo
- The two arrow buttons in the top toolbar undo or redo up to 100 project changes. Shortcuts: Command + Z and Command + Shift + Z on Mac; Ctrl + Z and Ctrl + Shift + Z on Windows.
- Download
- One menu holds three formats: a JSON project backup, a CSV cut list, and a print-ready PDF report. Every item explains what the file is for.
- Import
- The orange button beside Download opens a previously exported JSON in the planner.
- Units
- Metric or imperial, and the exact unit: mm, cm, m, or inches and feet.
- 3D room / Unfolded
- The viewport switch: a solid room, or every surface laid out flat.
- View settings
- The gear to the left of Dashboard: element names in 3D, the zoom buttons, and “Fit all surfaces”. The setting applies to this device and never reaches the project.
- Right-hand inspector
- Pick a surface at the top, then use one of five tabs: Surface, Tile, Coverage, Elements, or Calculation. The controls are no longer one long scrolling list.
Download groups JSON, CSV, and PDF; Import remains a separate action beside it.
The same project in both view modes.
Point at the corner or joint you need and use the wheel — the camera goes to the point under the cursor. The left mouse button orbits; Shift and drag pans. The + / − buttons beside the panel do the same without a wheel, and repeat while held. On a phone, one finger orbits and two fingers pan and zoom. Clicking empty space hides the inspector; clicking a surface or element brings it back.
Surfaces and how they connect
Adding the next wall around a corner, and laying a floor.
A project starts with one surface. While it is alone you can switch it between wall and floor. After that you attach neighbours to the selected wall — either in line or at a right angle.

- Select a surface
- Click a wall or floor in the viewport, or pick it from “Project surfaces”. The selected outline is blue; the outline under the pointer is orange.
- Right / left, in line
- The new wall continues the current one in the same plane — for one long run.
- Right / left, 90°
- The new wall turns into the room. Square by default — an ordinary room corner.
- Wall turn
- The turn does not have to be square: the slider and presets in the dimensions section take anything from −179° to 179°. A cut corner is two turns of 135°, which together make the same 90° the room turns. A negative angle turns the wall the other way and makes an outside corner — a boxed pipe run, a chimney breast, a bay.
- Floor in front of the wall
- Adds a floor anchored to the bottom of the selected wall. A project holds one.
- Back face of the wall
- Not a neighbouring wall but the same construction seen from the other side — for a partition tiled on both faces. Covered in “Wall thickness”.
- Surface name
- A free label shown in 3D and in the calculation — “Left wall”, “Shower area”.
Remove an attached surface with the button at the bottom of the Surface tab. The very first surface of a project stays.
Surface dimensions
A plain rectangle, and walls or floors that are not square.
An ordinary surface needs a width and a height (a length, for a floor). When the room drifts out of square, turn on “Uneven surface (4 measurements)” and enter four numbers: width at the bottom and at the top, height on the left and on the right.

The “Skew side” field says which side narrows: both, only the left, or only the right. It decides how the edge tiles are cut.
Everything is entered in the unit you picked. Switching units never changes the geometry — only how it is written.
Tile material, format, and orientation
Material identity, size, rotation, round mosaic, tile and adhesive thickness.
Try it: format and orientation change the layout instantly.
- Material name and colour
- The name groups the same product in calculations and CSV; the colour distinguishes it in 3D.
- Rectangular / hexagonal / mesh mosaic
- Choose the shape from a compact list. Mosaic is counted by the sheet: width and height are the sheet size. Pieces are round or hexagonal, and their size and spacing set the look. There is no separate joint between sheets — their edges interlock, so the pattern runs continuously.
- Horizontal / vertical
- Rotates the tile by 90°. A 600×300 laid vertically becomes 300×600.
- Width, height
- The nominal tile size, without the grout joint.
- Tile and adhesive thickness
- Decide how far the finished surface stands proud in 3D, and how surfaces meet.
Thickness matters where two surfaces meet: it is what decides whether the joint lines up in the corner.
Grout
The joint width, and why it moves the whole layout.
Drag the slider: a wider joint fits fewer tiles on the same wall.
The joint is added to every tile, so the grid step is tile plus grout. Even a millimetre of difference along a long wall changes the number of full tiles and the size of the last cut.
- Grout width
- From 0 to 20 units, in steps of 0.5.
- Enhance grout
- A view option only: it makes the joints more visible in 3D so the grid reads clearly. It never changes the numbers.
Layout: pattern, angle, offset
Moving the grid so the cuts land where you want them.
A straight grid, and a running bond with every row offset by half a tile.
Grid angle: 45° gives a diagonal layout.
- Pattern
- Straight grid or running bond. Hidden for hexagonal tile.
- Grid angle
- From −90° to +90° in 5° steps, with buttons for the usual values.
- Symmetric
- Centres the grid across the surface. There are two symmetric answers and a button for each: “Tile centred” puts a whole tile at the centre, “Joint centred” puts a joint there. The edge pieces come out different sizes — take the one that leaves them larger.
- Offset by width / height
- Sliders nudge the grid within one step and show the current value immediately. The offset is added on top of centring, so with symmetry on a non-zero value makes the cuts differ — the field is then called “Offset from centre” and a reset button appears beside it. The same sliders are used for local zones and custom element finishes.
- Edge pieces
- A live readout under the offset: the actual width of the left and right columns. That is what a layout is judged by, and it shows at a glance whether they match.
The usual move: press “Tile centred”, read “Edge pieces”, then press “Joint centred” and compare. Take whichever leaves the larger edge pieces — a thin sliver against a wall both looks worse and cuts harder. The manual offset is for later, when you need to move a cut out from behind a mirror or a tap.
Coverage zones and multiple materials
Partial-height tile, an accent area, or a zone with no tile.
Tile settings belong to one surface. Under “Coverage”, keep the whole surface, stop wall tile at a set height, or disable the base finish, then add local rectangular zones.
- Whole surface / to a set height / no tile
- The three base-coverage modes. “Tile to a set height” leaves the top of the wall bare — how a splashback or tiling to 1200 mm is done.
- Different tile
- The zone gets its own material name, compact tile-shape picker, format, grout, pattern, angle, and grid-offset sliders.
- No tile
- Leaves the substrate visible and does not add tile to the calculation.
- Zone priority
- Where zones overlap, the later one in the list wins; nothing is counted twice.
- Copy settings
- Copies only the material, grout, and grid to selected surfaces. Dimensions, outlines, elements, and zones stay intact.
Use a zone for an accent floor area, shower section, or partly tiled wall. Every material receives its own totals and cut list.
Openings, niches, projections, and objects
Doors, windows, a niche, a boxed-in pipe, a bath, or a glass screen.
Hover and click the element as you would in the viewport: orange means hover, blue means selected.
- Opening
- A hole in the surface: a door, a window, a hatch. No tile is laid or counted there.
- Through openings and reveals
- An opening in a wall that has a thickness pierces it and gets its reveals tiled. Covered in “Wall thickness”.
- Niche
- A recess that is tiled too — its back and its sides.
- Column
- A projection tiled on three faces.
- Reference object
- A solid guide such as a bath or boxed structure. You may separately exclude tile beneath it.
- Glass
- A transparent floor-mounted screen with its own width, height, thickness, and rotation.
- Element name and colour
- Label niches, boxed-in pipes, and baths in 3D — easier to read yourself and to show a client. The labels themselves can be hidden with “Element names in 3D” in the view settings menu when you want a clean scene.
- Element finish
- A niche or projection can inherit the surface tile, use another material, or remain untiled. Its back/front and returns may be configured separately, and the side returns can take a different tile orientation from the top and bottom.
- Depth / projection
- How far a niche goes in, or a column stands out.
- Mitre 45°
- The corners of a niche or column are mitred instead of using an edge tile.
- Symmetric, offset
- The same alignment tools, applied to the grid inside the element.
Add an element
- Under “Elements”, press “+ Add element” — a 900×1200 opening lands near the centre.
- Point at the element in the viewport and click it: its surface is selected, the Elements tab opens, and the matching list item becomes active.
- Pick the type and set the position: X from the left edge, Y from the bottom (from the start, on a floor).
- Enter the width, height, and depth.
If elements overlap or a small one is hard to hit, choose it from the list under Elements. A glass screen highlights its actual vertical outline.
Coordinates run from the bottom-left corner of the surface — the same way you measure from a room corner with a tape.
A projection built tight against a neighbouring surface — a shower tray, a kerb, a boxed-in duct — meets it the way it does on site: a face that runs into a wall, into the floor, or into a lower neighbour is left untiled, because no tile exists there. The neighbour’s tile is cut around the finished outline of the projection and stops in front of it, leaving a joint. If your sequence is the other way round — the surface tiled in full, the projection set on top — switch on “Neighbour tiled behind the projection”; the option only appears where an abutment actually exists.
Wall thickness: partitions, edges, reveals
A wall with two faces, a band on its free end, and the reveals of an opening.
Until this field existed, a wall in the model stayed a plane with no thickness. Now it has a rough construction — “Wall thickness” on the Surface tab. It is the size BEFORE tile: 100 mm for a stud partition, 120 for brick. Zero leaves the wall a plane, the behaviour there has always been. Three things follow from thickness: edges, reveals, and a partition with two faces.
- Wall thickness
- The rough construction without tile — the same idea as “depth” on a niche. The finished partition comes out thicker: 100 mm tiled on both faces finishes at around 124. In 3D a wall with a thickness is drawn as a solid slab — no empty space between the two faces. It does not affect the calculation: the body of a wall is not tile.
- Back face of the wall
- A button beside the four attachment options. It adds a second surface to the wall — the same construction seen from the other side. Dimensions are shared; tile, zones and elements belong to each face separately. A wall takes one back face.
- Tile the edges
- A free end — one with nothing attached to it — gets a band of tile across the full thickness by itself, mitred, in the same material as the wall. A room corner has no edge: the neighbouring wall already stands there. Turn the checkbox off where the wall runs into something the project does not contain.
- Tile the reveals
- Bands around the opening across the full wall thickness. The checkbox appears on an opening once the wall has a thickness. On a blind recess the bands run exactly as deep as the recess.
- Opening goes through
- The opening pierces the wall: you see through it in 3D, and on a partition it appears on the opposite face by itself, mirrored — there is no need to enter it twice. Clearing it makes a blind recess: the Depth field appears, and the reveals run exactly that deep.
Tile a partition on both faces
- Select the wall and set “Wall thickness” on the Surface tab — 100, say.
- Press “Back face of the wall” there. A second surface appears with the same dimensions.
- Give it its own tile, coverage and zones — they are independent of the front face.
- Add the door or window once, on either side: the opening appears on the other face by itself.
The coordinates of the two faces mirror: a niche 600 mm from the left edge of the front sits 600 mm from the right edge of the back. For a through opening you never have to work that out — the planner mirrors it for you. An older project where the same window already stands on both faces is not doubled: no copy is added where an opening of your own already sits.
Neither the edge nor the reveals are counted twice. The edge band belongs to the front wall, the reveals to the face that carries the thickness. Both use the surface’s own material, so they never become a separate line in the estimate.
Which reveals exist is decided by the geometry, not by the checkbox: a door standing on the floor has no threshold, an opening reaching the ceiling has no head, and an opening flush with the end of the wall loses that side. The same goes for the edge — it lives exactly where the face carries tile, so a wall tiled to 750 mm has no tiled edge above that. The reveals follow the same rule: an opening in a part of the wall that carries no tile gets no tiled reveals.
Floor outline
An L-shaped room, a chamfered corner, or a shape you draw.
A floor does not have to be a rectangle. “Edit outline” opens a plan view where the shape is built from corners.
The floor plan: drag corners, or type an exact edge length.
Set the shape
- Start from a preset: rectangle, L-shape, five corners — or “Draw” for your own.
- Drag the corners. Press an edge label to type its exact length.
- “Snap to walls” pulls points onto your project walls, their ends, and their intersections.
- Apply — your 3D camera stays exactly where it was.
- Keep right angles
- Constrains dragging to 90° so the room stays square.
- Lock the floor to the wall
- The anchored edge holds onto the wall, and accidental drift is corrected for you.
- History
- Undo and redo inside the outline editor.
Display and calculation
Cuts on screen, the totals, and the list you cut from.
Project totals and the grouped cut list.
- Show cuts
- Labels every cut tile with the size it actually needs to be.
- Tint cuts
- Colours the partial tiles so you can see at a glance where the cutting is.
- Surface / whole project
- Switches the totals between the selected surface and the entire job.
- Materials
- Every named tile has separate full, cut, total, and cut-list figures.
- Cut list
- Identical sizes are grouped within their material — the list you take to the tile saw.
Open the green Download button in the planner: CSV opens in Excel, Numbers, or Google Sheets; JSON stores the full project for transfer or backup; PDF builds a working drawing with the unfolded view, a page per surface, every cut labelled, niche and projection faces, and a combined cut list. PDF is also available from the project’s “…” menu on the dashboard.
Walkthroughs
Three ordinary jobs, start to finish.
A bathroom: four walls and a floor
- Create the project and enter the first wall’s dimensions.
- Press “Right, 90°” three times — you get a closed room.
- Select any wall and press “Floor in front of the wall”.
- Set the format and grout per surface — wall and floor tile is rarely the same.
- Turn on “Tint cuts” and look for the thin slivers.
Get rid of a sliver in the corner
- Select the surface and open the “Layout” section.
- Turn on “Symmetric” — the cut splits evenly across both sides.
- If that is not enough, drag “Offset by width” until the edge tile is acceptable.
- Check the opposite edge too — the offset moves the whole grid.
Work out the material and hand it over
- Check that every surface has the right size and format.
- Read the totals: full tiles and cuts across the project.
- Under Download, choose the CSV cut list or the PDF for printing.
- Download the JSON too if you want — it imports back and you carry on.
Questions and answers
How do I select a wall, floor, or element in 3D?
Point at it in the viewport and its outline turns orange. Click a surface to select it and open the right-hand inspector. Click an opening, niche, projection, solid object, or glass screen to open Elements with the matching item selected. A selected outline is blue.
How do I undo a bad change in the planner?
Use the Undo arrow in the top toolbar, or Command + Z on Mac / Ctrl + Z on Windows. Restore it with the neighbouring Redo arrow, Command + Shift + Z, or Ctrl + Shift + Z. History keeps up to 100 changes to surfaces, tile, zones, and elements; camera movement and tab navigation are not recorded.
How do I zoom into a small viewport detail?
Place the pointer on the corner, joint, or niche and use the wheel — the camera goes to the point under the pointer, so you can get right up close. Shift-drag pans. To bring the whole project back, use “Fit all surfaces”: in the unfolded view the button sits on the scene, in the 3D room it lives in the view settings menu.
How do I zoom without a mouse wheel?
Use the + / − buttons beside the right-hand panel; hold one to keep going. They are there on every device, desktop included. If they are in the way, switch them off in the view settings menu.
Where did the parameters panel go?
You clicked empty space in the scene — the inspector hides so it stops competing with the layout, and the viewport takes its place. Bring it back by clicking any surface or element, or with the arrow button next to the zoom buttons. Nothing is lost: the panel returns on the same surface and the same tab.
How do I hide the element labels in the scene?
The gear in the toolbar → “Element names in 3D”. It hides the labels for niches, projections, objects, glass, and zones — handy for a screenshot, or when you want a clean look at the layout.
How do I light every wall in a closed room?
Open the gear in the top toolbar and choose “3D lighting → Uniform”. This is the default CAD mode: it lights the surface from the camera side and keeps opposite walls out of deep shadow. “Dimensional” adds more contrast and soft shadows for a presentation-style view. The setting is kept on this device.
Do I need an account?
No. The planner works without signing up and keeps your project in the browser. An account is what lets you hold several projects, organise them in workspaces, and open them from another device. The PDF report also needs an account, because the server builds it.
Who can see my projects?
Only you. A project from another account simply does not exist as far as yours is concerned.
Can I change a workspace or project URL?
No — for both, only the name changes. The URLs are deliberately stable, because otherwise every planner link you had saved would break.
What if someone already took that workspace URL?
Nothing happens. URLs are unique within your own account, so you can have a “home” workspace even when other people have one too.
Can a deleted project be restored?
No. Deleting is final, which is why it always asks first. If a project matters, export it to JSON before you remove it.
Why will a workspace not delete?
It is probably your only one. An account needs at least one workspace: create the new one, move your work, then delete the old.
How accurate is the calculation?
The geometry is exact for the numbers you enter. But no result beats your measuring: check the room itself, especially in older buildings where walls are rarely straight.
Is breakage waste included?
No. The planner shows what the layout actually needs — add your own margin, usually 5–10% depending on how complex the layout is.
Can walls and floor use different tile?
Yes. Format, grout, and pattern are set per surface — and within one surface, per local zone as well.
Will projects made before the update still open?
Yes. Older JSON opens unchanged, and nothing is recalculated until you change something yourself.
How do I tile a wall only part way up?
Under “Coverage”, choose “Tile to a set height” and enter the height. Nothing is laid or counted above it, and the wall itself stays visible in 3D.
How do I make an accent area with different tile?
Add a “Different tile zone” under “Local zones”. The zone carries its own material name, format, grout, pattern, and grid offset. Where zones overlap, the later one in the list wins — nothing is counted twice.
How do I leave an area untiled?
Add an “Untiled zone” — the substrate stays visible and no tile is counted there. For a whole surface, the “No tile” base coverage does the same.
Why should I type a tile name or SKU?
The name is what groups a material across the calculation, the CSV, and the PDF. Two surfaces with the same name and specifications become one line item. Without a name each surface is counted separately, so unlike products never merge just because a cut happens to be the same size.
Why are the left and right cuts different when “Symmetric” is on?
Because the manual grid offset is added on top of the centring rather than replacing it. Check the “Edge pieces” readout under the slider: if they differ, press “Reset offset” — or go straight to “Tile centred” or “Joint centred”, the two ready-made symmetric answers.
Does laying tile vertically create a second material?
No. A 600×300 and the same tile laid vertically are one stock item: orientation changes the layout, not the order.
Can a niche use different tile from its wall?
Yes. In the element’s “Tile finish”, pick “Different tile / layout” or “No tile”. “Configure faces separately” then lets the back face (in a niche) or front face (on a projection) take one tile while the returns take another. The side returns and the horizontal ones (top and bottom) can also take different tile orientations: they run perpendicular to each other, so one orientation never suits both.
What are solid objects and glass partitions?
A bath, a boxed-in pipe, furniture, or a glass screen on the plan. They are never tiled — they are references with a name, colour, height, and rotation, so you can see whether anything fouls the layout. Tile continues beneath an object by default; “Do not tile below the object” turns that off.
How is mesh mosaic counted?
By the sheet — the way it is actually sold. Width and height set the sheet size (300×300 is typical), and “Mosaic appearance” sets the piece shape (round or hexagonal), its size, and the spacing. There is no separate joint between sheets: their edges are deliberately uneven and interlock, so sheets butt tight and the gap across the seam is made of two half-gaps — exactly the same as inside a sheet. Totals, the cut list, the CSV, and the PDF all work in sheets: a cut means trimming a sheet along its mesh, not slicing a single piece in half.
How do I copy tile settings to other walls without breaking them?
“Copy tile settings” moves the material, grout, and layout to one chosen surface or to all the others. Dimensions, floor outlines, elements, zones, and display toggles are left untouched.
Do the totals cover the whole job or one wall?
Both — the “This surface / Whole project” switch under “Calculation”. Either way the totals are broken down by material, and each material has its own cut list.
What happens to the tile where a projection meets a wall?
The same thing that happens on site. A face of the projection that runs into a wall (the ends of a kerb between two walls, say) or into a lower neighbour (the kerb side facing the tray) is left untiled — no tile exists there, and none is costed. The wall tile is cut around the finished outline of the projection — its body plus the tile on its side faces — and stops above it, leaving a joint. Nobody cuts a hole in the middle of a wall tile for this: the cut always reaches the edge of the tile, and the junction is sealed.
Why does the wall tile stop above the tray instead of reaching the floor?
Because it is never carried behind it. The tray is built before tiling, tight against the bare wall, and tile run behind it would only push it away from the wall. The planner stops the wall tile at the finished height of the projection plus a joint. If the resulting course is awkward — a few millimetres of tile left above a kerb, for instance — shift the wall grid vertically, exactly as a tiler would to land a joint on top of the projection.
What if I tile the wall in full first and set the bath afterwards?
Then switch on “Neighbour tiled behind the projection” in the element settings. The wall (or floor) tile runs behind the projection again, as it did before the projection was installed, and it is costed. The option only appears on elements that genuinely abut something. It does not bring back the buried faces of the projection itself: the end of a kerb between two walls is out of sight whichever order you work in, so it needs no tile either way.
Does this apply to ducts and projections on a wall, not just on the floor?
Yes, in three directions. A duct standing on the floor loses its bottom face, and the floor is cut around its outline with a joint. A duct in an inner corner loses the face pressed against the neighbouring wall, and that wall loses a strip as wide as the duct’s projection plus a joint. Projections on the same surface bury each other the same way: a lower neighbour hides a face up to its own finished top, a taller one hides it completely. A ceiling is not part of the project model, so a duct that runs into the slab is not treated as buried at the top — untile that face by hand.
Do zones and the new elements reach the CSV and PDF?
Yes. Both exports break quantities and cuts down by material, and account for zones, niches, and projections together with their faces.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. The right-hand inspector opens from its button or after you tap a surface or element in 3D. One finger orbits; two fingers pan and zoom, and the + / − buttons near the edge give an exact step when a pinch is awkward.
Where did my guest project go?
It lives in browser storage. Clearing site data, a private window, or a different browser all mean a different project. Use an account for storage you can rely on.
How do I tile a partition on both faces?
On the Surface tab press “Back face of the wall” — a second surface is added with the same dimensions but its own tile, zones and elements. Set “Wall thickness” there too: edges and reveals follow from it. The coordinates of the two faces mirror.
Do I have to place a door in a partition twice, once per face?
No. The opening is entered once, from either side, and appears on the other face by itself, mirrored. For a recess that does not reach the other side, clear “Opening goes through”. An older project where the same window already stands on both faces is not doubled: no copy is added where an opening of your own already sits.
Where does the tile on a wall edge come from, and why is there none in the corner?
Every free end gets one — an end with nothing attached to it. A room corner has no end: the neighbouring wall already stands there, so the band would come from nowhere. Its width is the distance between the tile faces of both sides, so a 100 mm partition finishes at around 124. Turn it off with “Tile the edges”.
How do I put a wall at 45° instead of 90°?
Add the wall with the usual “Right / left, 90°” button, then change “Wall turn” in the dimensions section — with the slider or a preset. Anything from −179° to 179° is accepted except zero, where both walls would lie in one plane — that is what “in line” is for. A minus turns the wall the other way and makes an outside corner. A cut corner between two long walls is three surfaces: the wall, a short one turned 135°, and a third turned 135° again. The floor outline is drawn separately, so give it the shape the room really has.
Why does the tile start further from a sharp corner?
Because it has to clear the face of the neighbouring tile, and on a corner that is not square that path is longer. At 90° the inset equals the neighbour’s glue, tile and grout; at 45° it is half as much again. The planner works it out — there is nothing to set.
Can I print the layout?
Yes. Under the green Download menu, choose “Project report · PDF”. It contains the unfolded view, a page per surface with every cut labelled, the faces of niches and projections, and a combined cut list by material. The drawing is vector, so it prints without losing sharpness. PDF is also available from the project’s “…” menu on the dashboard.
